Introduction

Dosing cannabis edibles can be a tricky task to accomplish, but with some basic tips and math, you will be a cannabis dosage expert in no time.

Cannabis comes in two main forms, high CBD and high THC, and this method will work for either or. You can use trim, popcorn buds, rosin chips, flowers, hash, kief and wax products for cannabis infusions and edibles.

If you are using lab tested material, follow these steps to calculate the dosage for your honey.

  1. Check the lab results and locate the THC or CBD %, for this example we have a 20.4% THC Blue Dream.
  2. Take the THC test percentage and multiply it by 10, 20.4% = 204mg
  3. Then multiply your mg per gram to the amount of cannabis you are infusing, for example we will be using 55 grams of cannabis later on in this page, so, 55*204 = 11,220mg*

*There is some THC degradation and not all THC is absorbed during extractions so this is an estimate, but commonly used dosing information, you can test the end edible after infusion to get an accurate dosage at a local testing lab.

Calculations and Examples

If you are using lab tested material, follow these steps to calculate the dosage for your edibles.

  1. Check the lab results and locate the THC or CBD %, for this example we have a 20.4% THC Blue Dream.
  2. Take the THC test percentage and multiply it by 10, 20.4% = 204mg
  3. Then multiply your mg per gram to the amount of cannabis you are infusing, for example if you use 55 grams of cannabis, 55*204 = 11,220mg*
  1. Check the lab results and locate the THC or CBD %, for this example we have a 15.6% CBD Cannatonic.
  2. Take the CBD test percentage and multiply it by 10, 15.6% = 156mg
  3. Then multiply your mg per gram to the amount of cannabis you are infusing, for example if you use 10 grams of cannabis, 10*156 = 1,560mg CBD*

If you are using untested material, follow these steps to calculate the dosage for your edibles.

  • Average THC % of Flower – 20%
  • Average THC % of Kief – 30%
  • Average THC % of Hash – 40%
  • Average THC % of Wax – 70%
  • Average THC % of Trim – 10%
  • Average THC % of Rosin Chips – 10%
  1. Approximate the THC or CBD %, for this example we have Girl Scout Cookie Hash.
  2. Take the THC approximate percentage and multiply it by 10, 40% = 400mg
  3. Then multiply your mg per gram to the amount of hash you are infusing, for example if you use 20 grams of hash, 20*400 = 8,000mg THC*
  1. Approximate the THC or CBD %, for this example we have Mac 1 trim.
  2. Take the THC approximate percentage and multiply it by 10, 10% = 100mg
  3. Then multiply your mg per gram to the amount of trim you are infusing, for example if you use 50 grams of trim, 50*100 = 5,o00mg THC*

*There is some THC degradation and not all THC is absorbed during extractions so this is an estimate, but commonly used dosing information, you can test the end edible after infusion to get an accurate dosage at a local testing lab.
